On-device storage and optional iCloud sync
Chunk stores the tasks, schedules, lists, notes, preferences, integration settings, and cached calendar information needed to provide the app on your device. The iPhone widget uses an Apple App Group shared with the main app. If you enable iCloud sync, Chunk sends your Chunk records to the private CloudKit database associated with your Apple Account so your devices can stay in sync. Chunk does not copy that content to a separate Chunk-operated database. Credentials for optional Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook connections are stored in the device Keychain.
Platform analytics
The current Chunk iPhone app does not include advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs. The directly distributed Mac app can use PostHog product analytics when Product Analytics is enabled; the Setapp build starts with this disabled.
- Mac product analytics can include feature interactions, app version, build variant, a pseudonymous app-install identifier, and the device hostname.
- When a direct Mac license is activated, order, customer, and license attribution identifiers can be attached to analytics events.
- Task titles, notes, schedules, and calendar content are not sent to PostHog. Apple may provide App Store analytics or diagnostics according to your Apple privacy and sharing choices.
Mac customers can disable Product Analytics in the app's settings. If analytics or crash-reporting tools are added to the iPhone app in a future version, this policy and the App Store privacy information will be updated before that version is released.
Optional Apple and calendar services
Apple Calendar and Reminders access is optional and uses Apple frameworks on your device. Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook connections are also optional; sign-in and calendar requests go directly between Chunk and that provider. Apple processes the lifetime in-app purchase; Chunk receives product, transaction, and entitlement information, but not your full payment-card details.
Lock screen updates from your Mac
If you use Chunk on a Mac and an iPhone, your Mac can show the block you're in on your iPhone's lock screen. To do this, your iPhone registers a push address with chunkapp.net, along with a one-time code from Apple confirming it's a real device, and shares that address with your Mac through your private iCloud sync. When a block starts, changes or ends, your Mac sends that push address and the block's title, start and end times and colour to chunkapp.net, which passes them to Apple's push notification service for delivery to your iPhone. chunkapp.net does not store push addresses or block details and never writes them to its logs; it keeps short-lived request counts, which expire within an hour, to prevent abuse. To turn this off, switch off Live Activities for Chunk in your iPhone's Settings.
Your control, deletion, and support
You can delete content in Chunk, disconnect calendar providers, revoke Calendar or Reminders permission in iOS Settings, and turn off iCloud sync. Deleting the app removes its local app data, although records previously synced to your private iCloud database can remain in your iCloud storage. If you contact support, we receive the email address and message you choose to send; the in-app support action pre-fills the Chunk and iOS versions. Remove private planning details from support messages unless they are necessary and you are comfortable sharing them.
